Red Feather Lakes is located at 40°48′28″N 105°34′43″W (40.807820, -105.578641). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 37.2 square miles (96 km²), of which, 36.7 square miles (95 km²) is land and 0.6 square miles (1.6 km²) (1.48%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 525 people, 262 households, and 175 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 14.3 people per square mile (5.5/km²). There were 1,106 housing units at an average density of 30.2 per square mile (11.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.95% White, 0.95% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.19% from other races, and 1.71% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.29% of the population.

There were 262 households out of which 14.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.5% were married couples living together, 2.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 27.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
